Berlin - Alexanderplatz, Das lange Warten hat ein Ende: Die Hauptstadt macht sich bereit für das erste Kenako-Festival – Afrika in Deutschland!

Ähnlich den großen Festivals in anderen deutschen Städten findet nun endlich auch in Berlin ein Afrika-Fest dieser Größenordnung statt. Vom 8. bis zum 10. Juni 2012 zelebrieren wir auf dem Alexanderplatz mitten in der City die afrikanische Kultur und präsentieren neben Musik und Tanz weitere interessante, attraktive und auch problematische Facetten afrikanischen Lebens in Deutschland.

Wir möchten afrikanische Kultur, das bunte, das kreative und inspirierende Afrika zeigen, jedoch ohne seine Probleme zu verschleiern. Vielmehr soll das Festival dazu beitragen, das Lebensgefühl der Afrikaner in Deutschland erlebbar zu machen, zu Gesprächen anregen, Kontakte zwischen AfrikanerInnen und Deutschen sowie auch untereinander schaffen und weiterentwickeln und dadurch gegenseitigen Respekt und Verständnis fördern.

Issiaka Moussa, Angelina Akpovo & Yakawumba präsentierten im Rahmen des Bühnenprogramms eine Mischung aus Tanz und Gesang Westafrikas.

AFRIKA UNITY WEEK

The Africa Unity Week is a project of the African Community in Hamburg organized to unify and support all People of African Descent as they celebrate Africa Day.

During the Africa Unity Week the aim is:

• to celebrate the identity and heritage of people of African descent living in Hamburg
• to create a forum for dialogue and exchange of ideas and experiences on issues of common interest affecting not only the Black Community in Germany, but also the Mother Continent and other black Diaspora
• to commit, unite and organize to fight racism and all forms of discrimination in Germany and thus contribute to making Germany a more diverse, intercultural and tolerant society
• to support the struggle for liberation, human rights, and social justice in Africa and
• to support the fight against neocolonialism and racism

This year Issiaka Moussa and Gamal Agouda-Bouraimah contributed to the Africa Unity Week by presenting their latest dance performance.
